Flagler College’s Students In Free Enterprise team will be hosting Cardboard Campout on the West Lawn on Friday, April 2 to raise awareness and money for its newest project, “Containers for a Cause.”
With “Containers for a Cause,” SIFE plans to build homeless transitional housing facilities from about 15 to 20 old railroad shipping containers. SIFE has already received one 40-foot shipping container, a donation from former St. Augustine mayor George Gardner.

St. Augustine local Sumner Gray would rather live in a makeshift shelter in the mountains than have the latest technological gizmo.
Last November, I interviewed Gray at his West Augustine home. Sitting out by his patio in front of a burned-out fire pit, Gray, 34, said he is interested in getting to the root of social problems, and he is not new to grassroots politics. He is the co-founder of People United to Stop Homelessness and a former co-owner of Loose Screws, the now-defunct independent music and bookstore that also served as an activist meeting center.

St. Augustine Fire Department and St. Johns County Fire Rescue evacuated the Proctor Library shortly before 5 p.m.
The library reopened at 6:15 p.m.
Wiley Hall also experienced possible fire issues. SAFD Lt. Jim Von Bretzel said Wiley Hall underwent a “smoke investigation.”
