Brett Dennen is everyone’s “Loverboy”

It was one of those nights when I just didn’t feel like turning off the TV and going to bed. The applause of late night talk shows faded, the clock struck 1:35 a.m. and Last Call with Carson Daly began informing me of the best new artists. I had been idly watching for hours until Brett Dennen, and the sway of his fiery red hair, appeared and began to belt out a few of his newest songs.
It was 2009 when I heard of him for the first time. Dennen’s hopefulness was so memorable that when I heard about the release of his newest album on April 12th, titled “Loverboy,” I had to find out what this one was all about.
Locals connect academics with music

Dick Wagner, 64, said he sees a correlation between music and success.
He taught orchestra in the Duval County School System before owning a music store for 30 years. Now retired, Wagner teaches string lessons at Grampa’s Music on Anastasia Boulevard.
Alligator Farm reptile charmers accept risky job

For Jim Darlington, assistant curator of reptiles at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, facing danger on a daily basis is just part of the job.
“When you know what you’re doing, you can put yourself in danger,” Darlington, who has worked at the zoological park for 17 years, said. “When I’m in [the alligator lagoon] working with the animals, I always have to be on my toes.”

The debut album “Sympathy” by Scattered Trees, a Chicago-based sextet, is a deeply personal one. Lead singer Nate Eiesland wrote the songs on this CD after the death of his father. The album explores love, loss and life in melodic fashion.
