Artists wanted for SIFE Avant Garbage

From Staff

Flagler College Students in Free Enterprise is presenting Avant Garbage, an eco-friendly art exhibit on Friday, March 2, at 5 p.m. on the West Lawn.

Artists and wanna-be artists are encouraged to create art for the Avant Garbage Art Show using reused products for their construction. The Avant Garbage exhibit will coincide with First Friday Art Walk.

Anyone interested in displaying art should contact FCSIFE at soon@flagler.edu. All art must stand on its own. Lighting will be provided.

Prizes will be awarded to winners in the following categories: Most Creative, Most Marketable, Most Absurd, Most Socially Responsible, and Most Thought Provoking.

Additionally, two interactive installations designed by Flagler College students will be featured at the Avant Garbage Art Show.

“Doors to Opportunity” will present ethical dilemmas and solutions and there will be a graffiti wall where art show attendees can express their thoughts about ethics.

The Avant Garbage art show is part of an FCSIFE ethics-focused initiative called “Something Out Of Nothing — SOON.”

FCSIFE is an organization that strives to provide college students the best opportunity to make a difference and to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise.
