Alumnus creates Web site for student networking, classifieds and more

SimpleAd.com is a Web site created by Daniel Johnson, a 2006 alumnus, to provide free classifieds for jobs, resumes, housing, vehicles, personals, and pets, items for sale, services, and community.

Johnson launched the site at the beginning of 2007, but had started working on his idea immediately following graduation. Although the Web site is open to anyone, he originally invented it with college students in mind.

“In my second year at Flagler, my roommate transferred to another school and I had a hard time finding a place to live. I also struggled with book buy-backs, which are basically a monopoly at most colleges. This Web site was designed to make these problems a little easier to deal with,” Johnson said.

As of right now, the site has more than 400 users, 500 classified ad posts, and 600 uploaded photos. The Web site has received more than 100,000 page views since the beginning of the year.

Students can post ads by entering an e-mail address and a security code. SimpleAd.com will then send an e-mail with the password to the new account to allow instantaneous ad postings.

The site is available to find part-time jobs and to post resumes. It even has a community section for services dealing within the community, such as babysitting jobs.

The site is very simple to use and is designed with minimal graphics in order to ensure faster loading times. There are no pop-ups on the site and there is no limit to how many ads may be posted by one person.
