Flagler College’s Public Relations Student Society of America chapter is hosting its STAND 2009 event on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
PRSSA said this event raises money as well as awareness for the Flagler Hospital Cancer Resource Center, an organization dedicated to the education, research and support of cancer patients. Music, food and raffles will also be provided, PRSSA said.
PRSSA said the events scheduled are: goofy relay, eating contest, legends of the hidden castle trivia, musical chairs, puzzle relay and tug-of-war.
PRSSA said the objective is to outplay and outlast opposing teams through five rounds of competition. Losing teams will be eliminated from round to round. Throughout the night, two teams will emerge as champions and face off head-to-head in a tug-of-war competition for prize money. If the winning team represents a club, they will be awarded the cash as club money, while teams representing individual squads will receive five $40 target gift cards, PRSSA said.
“STAND 2008 raised $1,000 for the cancer care resource center, and to see how much that amount of money meant to the center, inspires us to make this year even better,” said Despina Pappas, president of PRSSA, Flagler College chapter.
“With a whole new theme of Club Olympics going on this year at Flagler College, our team of PRSSA members are gathering as many donations as possible from college students and businesses in St. Augustine, but we need the community’s help,” said Pappas.
