War and Foreign Policy
There would be a phased withdrawal of the troops in Iraq over a 16-month period. The withdrawal would be coordinated with the Iraqi government and directed by military commanders on the ground.
He would create a counter-terrorism force that will remain in Iraq for specific missions, and will continue to train Iraqi security forces. This candidate wants to encourage Iraqi leaders to take more responsibility toward creating stability.

He would also encourage them to use oil revenue for reconstruction.

To help Iraqi refugees and to prevent future humanitarian crises, he would form an international working group. He believes in extending diplomatic efforts to both allies and enemies of the United States.

This candidate would make the conflict between Israel and Palestine a “key diplomatic priority.”
Last, he plans to strengthen the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which will impose international sanctions on countries such as Iran and North Korea.

Economy and Taxes
He wants to cut taxes for working families and simplify the tax filing process. He will reward companies that create jobs for American workers.

His plans include new jobs by investing in clean energy and technology. He will raise the minimum wage. By creating a standardized score for loans, he will make it easier for homebuyers to compare and understand different mortgages.

He would also create a rating system for credit cards, making it easier for consumers to understand the pros and cons of a card without having to read the fine print.

Healthcare
His plan will give Americans the choice between keeping their existing healthcare or purchasing insurance from a new public plan that will be based on the benefits that members of Congress receive.

He would prevent insurance companies from denying coverage to people with health conditions.

This candidate would also allow safe and cheaper drugs to be imported from other developed countries.

Energy
He would tax oil companies and use the money to give families $1,000 to help with rising energy bills.

He wants to have 1 million plug-in hybrid cars on the road by 2015, and he’ll work to have these cars built in America.

His plan would establish fuel economy and low carbon standards. This would save more oil within 10 years than we currently import from both Venezuela and the Middle East.

Education
This candidate would create a tax credit that will make the first $4,000 of college tuition free for most Americans. Students will be required to complete 100 hours of community service.

Homeland Security
His plan calls for increased security at chemical plants to keep track of nuclear fuel.

He also wants to create a central database of residents in case of natural disaster.
