Cadillacs cruise to third straight championship as senior players say goodbye to intramural league

The intramural flag football season has come to a close. After a long season of sweat and mud, the men of Flagler have put away the cleats until next season.

Teeth were chipped and stitches were again necessary, but it wouldn’t be intramurals without it.

The Cadillacs claimed their third consecutive championship in 2008, which will arguably go down in Flagler history as one of the most successful group of players yet.

Coach Clint ‘Bama’ Imsand led the team through a grueling season which included their first loss in three years.

After the loss the team found motivation from within and played better than ever, winning the championship game by the largest margin ever.

First year players Mike Koster and J.P. Pound both had successful seasons for the Cadillacs.

“It was fun to be on a championship caliber team our freshmen year, and we hope to continue the legacy,” Koster said.

Meanwhile, veteran player Tom Givas led the team on the field with more than five years of intramural experience. Givas attributes the team’s continued success to unselfish play and a strong desire to go out on top.

Three consecutive championships is a benchmark record for Flagler intramural sports and the Cadillacs are proud of it.

Although most of players will be graduating and pursuing further endeavors, the Cadillac name will carry on through the younger players.

Imsand has passed the torch to Koster who is honored to be the new captain and coach of the Cadillacs.

Although Imsand has finished his intramural career, he says Director of Intramurals Mike Roberson and the intramural program at Flagler have provided him with some of his best memories of the school.
