Lady Saints beat Night Hawks, 3-1

The Flagler women’s soccer team proved to be victorious with a 3-1 defeat over Thomas University on October 6 at the Saints field.

This non-conference game assisted Flagler to break its two-match losing streak and up its record to 6-5-0. Thomas loses its third game in a row and drops to 3-7-1.

Junior forward Elizabeth Glasgow gained her third goal of the season and placed Flagler on the scoreboard with a 1-0 lead. Thomas University player Naama Wolf scored a penalty kick to tie the game and remained 1-1 through the halftime break.

“We were well going forward. We played at their level but we created better opportunities with the spread of the offense,” said Flagler Coach Teddy Meyer.

Junior midfielder Caitlin Eggiman created an opportunity with a conversion pass from freshman midfielder Ryan Pando to put Flagler in the lead with 2-1. Glasgow achieved her second goal of the game with the help from a through ball from Tiffany Urguhart. Hope McArthur, senior goalkeeper, traced two saves while Thomas player Brittany Wilkinson saved nine shots from Flagler. Flagler over shot Thomas 38-5 and finished with a victory.

Flagler will travel to Armstrong Atlantic State University on October 9 for make-up match that was postponed due to weather earlier in the season.
