Don’t Quit Your Day Job

Consequence’s new album Don’t Quit Your Day Job is a solid accomplishment with creative lyrics and a good sound.

Those who aren’t even big fans of rap and hip-hop can still appreciate Consequence and will appreciate the intricacy of his words and the composition of his beats. Don’t Quit Your Day Job can make any listener want to bounce to the beat and smile.

Consequence, whose real name is Dexter Raymond Mills, Jr. is from Queens, New York. He was an unofficial member of “A Tribe Called Quest” before he signed to Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D Music. While Consequence’s new solo album is similar in style to West, he still makes it his own with new beats and creative lyrics.

Some of my favorite songs on the album were “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly,” “Pretty Little Sexy Mama” and “Grammy Family.” “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” had an awesome sound. This song featured West, and backup female vocals worked well with the music.

“Pretty Little Sexy Mama” has a lighter tone to probably appeal more to the ladies and had an all-around good feeling about it. “Grammy Family,” featuring DJ Khaled, West and John Legend, had a great buildup in the beginning and sounded dominating and fresh. It had many different elements in the song that worked well together to make it a perfect addition to the album.

“The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” and “Grammy Family” were the most dominant songs on the album and set the bar high for the rest of it. Consequence has no problem consistently delivering good music.

This artist is a strong asset for Kanye’s label. His debut solo album has many different sounds and lyrics to grab listeners’ attention. Consequence created Don’t Quit Your Day Job and successfully showed listeners that he had a lot to say in the music world.
