Taking one game at a time and looking to the future is how head coach Bo Clark is keeping morale up among his players.

The men’s basketball team is currently on an 11 game losing streak with a 6-12 overall record.

“I think the big thing is to try to keep as much positive energy as we can,” Clark said.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Saints lost to Montevallo 96-61 after ending the first half down only three points. Flagler had 24 turnovers which Montevallo converted to 38 points.

The team finds themselves struggling with turnovers and getting down early in the game. Clark also said the team has to work on their defense and keeping up with the athleticism of the other Peach Belt conference teams.

“My philosophy in the 26 years has always been to value the ball and really take care of the basketball,” Clark said.

Throughout the losing streak Flagler has found itself competing in a few close games.

“Those are the ones that when it’s there you got to take it and when there is an opportunity to win it in the last possession or two those are the ones we really need to get,” Clark said. “We’ve got to win those games.”

But the Saints have been getting consistent play from Ante Gospic and good shooting from Ryan Barnes.

Clark said he is just trying to stay positive and focused on the games ahead.

“Our goal right now is to win as many games as we can,” Clark said.
