Teal Town inspires Jaguar pride at home games

By Stephanie Seltzer | gargoyle@flagler.edu

Do you ever wonder what the black and teal flutter flags are for outside of the Pepsi Plaza in Jacksonville? Those mark the colors of the Jaguars and their tailgating event called Teal Town.

Every home game Teal Town has its gates open for fans to come show their support for the Jaguars. Teal Town opens three hours prior to kickoff and last until about 30 minutes before the games begins.

This event is for people of all ages and welcomes anyone, even if you are a fan of the opposing team. During the event, Teal Town has appearances by the D-Line, members of the ROAR, former Jaguar players and you may even see Jaxson de Ville zip by you on his motorcycle.

Throughout the event, guests are welcome to sit and listen to the live bands. Concession stands full of classic football game foods are stationed right at the entrance and in the center of Teal Town are the very popular $2 draft beers. If guests enter the event wearing the official Jaguar t-shirts, then they are given a coupon that gets them one free beverage of their choice.

Guests are welcome to the three inflatables that include a bungee run, a quarterback toss and an obstacle course. They also have the opportunity to practice like a player with the high jump, long jump, 20-yard dash and the obstacle course. Finish by becoming the wide receiver to catch a pass.

They can grab a chair and watch game highlights on the giant LCD screen. There is a tattoo artist and face painters at the event. Take a picture on the field and catch a glimpse of what it would look like to step on the field through a green screen and be able to take home a free picture.

With only two home games left make sure you stop by and enjoy Teal Town. The next two games are both at 1 p.m. The Jaguars will be playing the Oakland Raiders on December 12 and the Washington Redskins on December 26.
