Member of Flagler’s Board of Trustees, Fred M. Cone, passes away

Fred M. Cone, a member of the Flagler College Board of Trustees since 1979, passed away on Sept. 22.

In his 28 years serving on the board, Cone sat as chairman for five years. Cone was also chairman of the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors of the Flagler College Endowment Fund, a member of the Finance Committee, and established the Fred and Barbara Cone Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships for future teachers who plan to work with special needs students.

In an e-mail sent to Flagler students, faculty and staff, President William T. Abare Jr., said, “I am sad to inform you that Mr. Fred M. Cone, Jr., a trustee of Flagler College since 1979, passed away this past weekend. I urge all members of the Flagler College community to keep Mr. Cone’s family in your thoughts and prayers.”
