Flagler College Department of Theatre Arts presents “Hot*l Baltimore”

Theatre Review

By Carmen Richter

When I walked into the Auditorium on the opening night of Hot*l Baltimore, the first word that came to mind was detail.

Before the show started, I took in the dynamics of the set, from the huge working clock telling the audience the time in the show to the “marble” stairs to the caution tape across one of the doors. Music from the ’60s and ’70s was playing to complete the nostalgic effect.

Lady Saints split Tri-Match

By Devon Jeffreys

Flagler Volleyball entered action last Tuesday with their season winding down and a chance to knock off a team that has become a thorn in their side.

The Lady Saints traveled to Lynn University carrying momentum from a 4-1 weekend at home. The Fighting Knights, however, stalled the Lady Saints’ progress, defeating them 3-1 (30-23, 30-27, 24-30, 30-27). It was the second time this year that Flagler lost to Lynn. Both matches went four games.

Lady Saints fail to deliver on Meyer’s prediction

Women’s soccer falls to 2-12-1 after 2-0 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic

By Michael O’Donnell

Coach Teddy Meyer gave a bold prediction Monday morning as his team prepared for Palm Beach Atlantic.

“We will win,” he said.

Meyer’s prediction to spark the team fell short, as the Lady Saints lost 2-0.

The Lady Saints came out strong dominating play and out-shooting the Sailfish 16-6 the entire game, but nothing went their way.

Lady Saints round out weekend with two more victories

By Devon Jeffreys

When the Flagler College Lady Saints Volleyball squad took the court on Saturday, it was under an odd set of circumstances. It was 9 a.m. and they were starting their first of three matches on the day, five total encompassing Friday and Saturday.

The early match had the Lady Saints matched up against the NCAA Div. II Armstrong Atlantic State University Pirates. Armstrong Atlantic entered the match as the top team in the Peach Belt Conference and has been the early favorite to win the conference.

When did blogging become the national pastime?

I don’t really have anything to say, but I refuse to be outdone by my fellow bloggers.

Whether it was evident to the masses or not, in the last week there have been seven new blog posts to the Gargoyle site (and they’re still coming).

I thought I was pretty on top of it with my one blog every two to three weeks.

Lady Saints lose a heartbreaker

Lady Saints lose to NCAA Div. II St. Leo 3-0 in an emotionally driven match

By Michael O’Donnell

The Flagler College Lady Saints Soccer team lost a heartbreaker against 24th-ranked NCAA Div. II Saint Leo Saturday night at Saints Field.

Coming out of the blocks early, the Lady Saints did not waste any time trying to cut Saint Leo down to size, getting key scoring chances in the first half. In an effort to score, Coach Teddy Meyer pushed some extra players up on the forward progression, but to know avail.

Lady Saints halt skid, take down Webber, Warner

By Devon Jeffreys

It may have been Friday the 13th, but the Lady Saints volleyball team didn’t let their demons get the best of them.

The Lady Saints took the court with a cloud hanging over their head – a four game losing streak that stretched over two weeks. The last two of those losses came exactly a week prior in Savannah and the time off gave Flagler plenty of time to think about their mistakes.

Lady Saints fall to NAIA No. 1 Lindsey Wilson

By Michael O’Donnell

On a picture perfect October evening, with the air crisp and clear, the Flagler College Lady Saints soccer squad lost to NAIA No. 1 Lindsey Wilson College at Flagler Field.

The seemingly undaunted Lady Saints came out strong in the first half against the Blue Raiders, led by freshman defensemen Samantha Warr and sophomore midfielder Caitlin Eggimann. The Lady Saints took a number of shots at Blue Raiders goaltender Lisbeth Skjodt, but could not put the ball in the back of the net. Despite that inability to score, Coach Teddy Meyer was very impressed with his young team.
