Saints hit links at nationals

By Glenn Judah

The No. 2 ranked NAIA Saints look to finish their best season ever as they begin play today in the NAIA National Championship in Olathe, Kan.

The Saints have finished in the top 10 the last two years at the Prairie Highlands course and are hoping to do even better this year. According to Don Robbins, Saints head coach, the team feels it has a real opportunity to win the championship.

Prior to the National Championship, the Saints took down the defending National Champions and No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA Johnson and Wales by winning the Region XIV Championship.

“Winning the regional tournament and beating the number one team in NAIA gives us an outside chance to win nationals,” Robbins said.

So far this season the Saints have had two first places and two second places out of five tournaments. The team wants to use this success and past experiences from competing in the national championship to their advantage in the tournament.
