Acting I show aims parody at college culture with spoof of SNL
By Dylan Thomas
Is the stress of the approaching finals week stressing you out? Why not take a break from studying for a few hours and attend Acting I’s class performance entitled “Tuesday Night Live.” Meant to be a spoof of “Saturday Night Live,” teaching assistant Morgan Verrill promises the show to be quite entertaining.
“It’s been a great semester. I have learned a lot working with the guys and I know the show is going to be great,” said Verrill.
The show will consist of many of the same skits that Saturday Night Live provides, but twisted in a way that is aimed more at Flagler College life. Instead of a weekend update there will be a midweek update and even a parody of “Seasons of Love” from the hit Broadway show “Rent.”
“I am very excited about the show! I can’t wait,” said Freshman Alex Boyle who will be performing in the show. In the past the Acting 1 show has proven to be a night of laughter and fun. This semester’s class is giving the impression that this upcoming performance is going to live up to the already high standards.
The show will also have two guest appearances by the Dance Styles class headed by Ellie Barrett. The first appearance is a groovy disco number that is sure to get your boogie on. The second dance number is a mambo piece that will have your shoulders shimmying and your hips gyrating in your seat to the beat of the music.
“We have all worked very hard this semester. I am very proud of everyone,” said Senior Laura Dewey who will be making her final performance as a student of Flagler College along with Senior Mel Norton. Both have worked with Barrett since their freshman year and will be doing a duet together during the mambo number.
The show will take place on Tuesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at the Flagler College Auditorium. Tickets are $1 and are available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.
