Jags looking to beat Cowboys in defense-heavy matchup

By Dustin Fletcher | gargoyle@flagler.edu

This week, the Jaguars will look to make amends for an error filled game against Kansas City in Week 5. Blake Bortles and the offense will try not to turn the ball over and the defense will have its hands full with star back Ezekiel Elliot. Elliot leads the league in rushing yards with 480 yards, in large part to the Cowboys’ monster offensive line.

However, the Cowboys’ offense through the air is much less prolific, with the team being one of the worst in the league at throwing the ball. The Cowboys rank 29thin the league and have a total of 860 passing yards on the season (only 172 yards a game!). The defense will have a clear game plan to stop the running game for Dallas early to force throws from quarterback Dak Prescott.

The Jaguars defense has only allowed six touchdowns through five weeks and this looks to be another dominant defensive show. Bortles and the offense have had no problems with moving the ball offensively in the past two weeks, but last week the offense turned the ball over five times. If Jacksonville can hold onto the ball, this should be a win for the Jaguars.

Prediction: Jaguars 24 – Cowboys 17
