St. Augustine is a historic town ripe with places to go for entertainment both in the daytime and the nighttime.

One of the most popular hotspots for Flagler students tends to be The White Lion, which lives a double life as a restaurant during the day serving lunch and dinner specials and a lively bar at night, where you can sometimes listen to a live band playing, have a drink, and mingle with people both inside and outside.

“I really like the White Lion,” said Dani Aubin, a Flagler College Student. “I really like how cheap the drinks are.”

Aubin adds, “I never used to go out. I work so much, but I guess I just desperately needed some free time with my friends when I had the chance. Now I go out about one to two times a week.”

Other popular places to go at night in St. Augustine are the restaurant Scarlett O’Hara or “Scarlett’s” among the locals which serves tasty food such as the pulled pork enchilada, mixed drinks like the Scarlett O’Hara, and even has karaoke some nights, along with the bar Local Heroes, and Meehan’s Irish Pub.

Flagler College student, Brian Shaffnit likes to frequent the Crown and Bull Publick House on St. George Street.

“It’s a laid back place where I can have a great beer and watch the game,” Shaffnit said. “I don’t like waiting 15 minutes for a beer so this works really well for me.”

The Crown and Bull is a bar, pub, and lounge that serves authentic British food and is located in part of the Colonial Quarter, which is also located off of St. George Street and is a great day time attraction.

“I enjoy the lack of really loud, bad music so that I can have a conversation with friends over a craft beer,” Shaffnit added. “I can’t dance so when I go out I want lively conversation with the ladies.”

And, what’s the best thing about the nightlife in St. Augustine?

“I think it’s definitely diverse,” Aubin said. “It’s a mix of tourists, hipsters, really eccentric people, and students.”
