I am about to graduate college, and I can’t even sleep soundly in my own bed. My bedroom makes a homeless camp look like a palace: dirty clothes seem to creep out of every corner and nook. Papers, posters, Power Bar wrappers and old Arizona Tea cans cover the floor, and I create “walking space” just by shifting the pile of refuse from one end of the room to the other.
My room is a testament to my life: a disorganized, erratic mess. I’ve been this way ever since I can remember.

I looked up at my boyfriend’s face and then back down into my bowl where the dead bird was floating. It was day one of seven in my omnivorous experimentation after being a vegetarian since I was 12-years-old, which was ten years ago.
My first meal was organic chicken and dumplings. My boyfriend, who is a proud meat-eater and believes we are made to eat flesh, decided to order tofu. I am not sure if he was actually in the mood for the soy meat substitute that usually serves as one of my main sources of protein, or if this was some sick joke. Nonetheless, I had committed to eating this chicken, so I took my first bite.

Just by looking at her, it’s hard to tell that Shannon Aument was in a life-threatening car accident.
On April 22, 2006, Aument slammed her head against the back of the passenger’s seat, disfiguring her face. After stitches, doctors used plastic surgery to rebuild her nose. The procedure took two years, but the results left her looking almost exactly as she did before the accident.

For Flagler College junior Joshua Weaver, TOMS shoes are more than casual and comfortable shoes that complete every outfit and represent personal style—they promote a worthy cause that affects everyone, from the first world to the third.
“I first heard about TOM shoes when I was a senior in high school [in 2008],” he said. “I had a friend in a band that was sponsored by TOM shoes. I read their mission statement, loved their style and the one for one business model. I thought: ‘I love that idea. I’m going to buy them.’ ”

It was the only time in my life I actually thought I wanted to die. I crawled from the bottom bunk in my tiny Georgetown dorm I was sharing with another girl for two months last summer. I grabbed my cell phone and dialed the one person I call when I do not know what to do – my mother.

Davis Shores is a neighborhood in St. Augustine’s city limits littered with the towering-two story complexes and mowed lawns of middle class suburbia. But on Feb.17, police found that some residents of this community right across the Bridge of Lions had materials to make what some say is the worst drug in the world.

It has been over one month since I have washed my hair with traditional shampoo and conditioners.
Since starting this no-poo lifestyle, as it is not-so-fondly called, I have eliminated every feature I used to hate about my hair. My hair is not frizzy, it’s not greasy and it’s not dirty. It’s clean, soft, shiny and healthy.
This new lifestyle is cheaper, easier and definitely better for the environment.
