For a band that formed in the sticks of Omaha, Neb., to have their own holiday seems rare. 311 is a band consisting of Nick Hexum as lead vocals, S.A Martinez as vocals/disc jockey, Tim Mahoney on lead guitar, P-nut on bass, and Chad Sexton on the drums. The five have released twelve CDs, three DVDs, and have hit top charts over seventeen times. In 2000, the band played a show in the city of New Orleans that changed everything for them. They went from small town band to big rock stars.

For so much of my life, the word family had a negative connotation to it. Both of my parents are one of five children, and I have 24 first cousins.
