Gargoyle a finalist in national SPJ awards competition

Screen Shot 2016-05-16 at 4.56.18 PMThe Gargoyle, Flagler College’s online-only student newspaper, wasa finalist in the Society of Professional Journalists’ 2015 National Mark of Excellence Awards in two categories: Best Independent Online Student Publication and Best Digital-Only Student Publication.

National Mark of Excellence award judges could select one national winner and up to two national finalists (runners-up) in each category.

This is the first time The Gargoyle site has been recognized nationally in the prestigious competition. The site won in the regional competition this past spring before moving on to the national awards.

Other award winners/finalists in the two categories included media at Temple University, University of Maryland, St. Cloud State University and Lipscomb University.
