Emi,
I am glad you had the opportunity to go home to help your family and community. I learned an important lesson through your article. As a College community we need to be much more aware of the personal impact of disasters on our students that come from countries or communities affected by disaster. Thank you.

Very interesting article. the comments the advertisement made of 'hanging in there' and 'we are helping each other'. I have never seen a country that helped and worked together after a major catastrophe as the country of japan. I remembered an interview of Diane Sawyer talking to the local people with nothing left of their home and they were offering her food which they didn't have enough for themselves. The Japan earthquake introduce me to a community,a country that cares about each other. It was ashame Miyao felt disconnected with her fellow students on the day it happened. We can learn from the people of Japan.
