But a parent that smokes in front of their child, let alone right next to their child, probably does not have the kind of open mind to take your comments into consideration. If anything, telling them NOT to smoke around their kids will probably give them the i-can-do-whatever-the-hell-i-want-with-my-kid approach. And then that’s going to lead to conflict, with mommy and daddy yelling in front of poor Bobby Sue. Education is definitely the key.. but approaching someone about what to do with their child seems a bit unrealistic.

I definitely agree that smoking around children has become a big problem that no one seems to pay attention to. I commend the author for bringing attention to this disgusting habit. And just to be clear, emotional driving may be dangerous but it is not as extremely ignorant and dangerous of a decision as smoking around your own children.
