Heavy rain floods streets, downs power lines

UPDATE: Flagler College Registrar Mimi Roberson pushed back the add/drop deadline to tomorrow at 5 p.m. from today at 5 p.m. due to the severe weather. 4:35 p.m.
St. Augustine Police Sergeant Mike Etheridge advises people to look out for damaged power lines and avoid hanging tree limbs.
Etheridge said officers are patrolling the streets, most of which are flooded, to help with the cleanup process.
He said the flooding drainage depends on the tide’s status and that low tide allows flooding to drain faster.
According to the National Weather Service, St. Augustine Beach’s low tide will be at 5:49 p.m.

Flagler College weather sirens sounded at approximately 2:25 p.m., which caused security to, through e2campus emergency communications, advise students to stay indoors and “stay away from all doors and windows.”
The college has since pulled back that emergency advisory with another campus-wide e-mail at 3:36.

you didn’t even mention the fact that there were tornado watches/warnings all afternoon and the fact that some touched near jacksonville. get it together people. flooding is normal here, tornadoes are not.
I unfortunately had to learn about this cities flooding the hard way. Apparently cold air intakes and water don’t mix and now my car is dead.
Well, that was nice of the Registrar. That was extremely sweet.
As for flooding – tell me something I don’t know. “Lake Lewis” is created if it sprinkles half the time.
The weather information is considered “breaking” especially since the siren went off, but this discusses the flooding more.
