Feelings about people do change over time. It is hard to know whether a friend's change will change the way you feel about them. Will they still be the friend you love in ten years, or will they have changed so drastically that they are someone you no longer know? You knew someone for ten years and they changed into someone you could not longer be friends with. That is proof that they do change and when if comes to friendship and love, we can only hope that we will be able to stand the test of time. It reminds me of a short (really, really, really short) story I once heard:

A man was met a traveler in town and took him to his home. He spoke with him on every subject and spent several years with him. He only discovered his true nature when he took a walk with him one day and hung him over the lip of a volcano.

The moral of the story is that only when faced with death can we truly know the nature of someone. Even though you think you know someone you can never know what is their true nature, or what is truly inside them, and how it can change them.

Kim,
It's just as you said here, and in our conversation--"time is the ultimate test of love." That is relevant in so many situations and for so many people. I feel a lot of people can relate to your story.

Kim, it is obvious that it was written through the heart. It wasn't just another blog or article; it was real. Many people throw the word "love" around as if it has no meaning. Love is one of the greatest gifts God has given humans. It is what makes each day worth living for- knowing that I am loved.

I love you forever...and that I will take to the grave. You are so much more than a sister or a best friend. You are a part of my soul. As the book I wrote in first grade says "Sisters Forever."
