A ‘Metro’ education

So sometimes the most exciting parts of my day arent at work, they are on my main mode of transportation. aka THE METRO!

On Wednesday this week I got off of work and waited for the bus. This little old lady was ahead of me paying the fare, and the woman bus driver tells her that she needs to put more money on her bus pass because it’s all out. The woman just shrugs and sits down; this must be a recurring matter because the bus driver just sighed loudly and checked my pass.

Ambitions of my Old Self

Ambition. A Noun meaning: a strong desire to do or to achieve something, usually requiring determination and hard work.

Apparently, and according to other people, this is something that I have NONE of.

This is probably the first time in my life that I have been floored by what someone has said to me. (Perhaps I exaggerate, but at least one of the few times I’ve been speechless.)

First Days

Day One 5/28
After a grueling eight-hour flight day I arrive in the Los Angeles Airport. I call my landlord and tell him that I am on my way to the apartment when he says that it isn’t ready and won’t be ready till two days from now, my body shuts down in a state of homelessness and panic. He tells me that he can arrange for me to stay in a hotel. I get to the hotel and it is the ritzy Hyatt Regency Century City Hotel. Maybe LA won’t be so bad after all!

The Wiry West

The Wiry West

I think I have finally come to accept the World Wide Web for all the potential it has, good and bad. By “bad,” I don’t mean pictures of questionable behavior and unprofessional language on social networking sites. I don’t mean checking my email 17 times today (which I did- I know, it’s sad. Even sadder is that I counted).

I don’t mean the unparalleled dangers of communicating with and/or meeting unknown people online. I don’t mean the abundance of amoral content available everywhere online and I don’t mean the countless viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, adware, popups and spam email all throughout cyberspace.
