Oh come on, the girl who wants to be vp of sga is comparing bickering over tshirts to HATE CRIMES!? That’s sick, I’m sure taht the minorities who are being killed over hatred are real sympathetic to the shirt designers. Way to win votes team berman.

The feedback to support Flagler pride is incredible! While the designs for the T-shirts could have been more artistic, the ones that were submitted were creative and different. As Flagler students we should support each other and stop with the Flagler-on-Flagler hate crime.

I think the candidates are all fine, but I really wouldn’t go out of my way to pay for any of these…they seem generic and totally uninspired. The signs shirt might be cool for a club or something but, not Flagler College’s winning t-shirt design. I’m a psych major, why would I want to advertise signing?

I think they are all excellent and I am glad that they all entered the contest. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The first entry with all the swirly Flagers is great because it is reminiscent of Flagers elegance and hidden mystery!

The second entry with the lions head speaks volume about our Flagler pride.

The third entry with the sign language is original, and I thinks it says fun just like Flaglers casual atmosphere.

You can’t go wrong with any you choose! Thank-you for sharing your art.

i like the concept of using signs on the shirt but it is not aesthetically pleasing. it seems like i am trying to learn something off of the shirt. like if it said flagler college in small print on the front left breast and on the back have just the signs on the back. just an idea. but the rest are plain.

I really wish that people were as enthusiastic about anything else at this school as they are about a flippin t-shirt contest. Maybe make your own design? There were only 5 mass e-mails sent out asking for submissions. Its your own fault, so dont complain!

Entries were submitted to the Legacy from individuals for a period of one month. This contest was completely voluntary. If you do not see a design you like, please submit one next year when the contest is hosted again.

Rules for T-shirt Contest…

Entries will be accepted Feb. 1 to 28 and should be no more than three colors, but can follow any theme. All submissions must incorporate the word “Flagler” and should be sent via e-mail as a .jpg attachment to legacy@flagler.edu with the designers name, phone number, affiliation with Flagler and mailing address. High-resolution artwork will be required for the winning design.

The top three entries – to be selected by a committee comprised of faculty, staff and students – will be announced in the March 13 issue of The Gargoyle. At that time, voting will be open to everyone at http://gargoyle.flagler.edu. The contest winner will be announced online and in the April 10 issue.

The winner will have their design reproduced on t-shirts to be sold in the Flagler’s Legacy retail shops and will receive a $75 gift certificate. Second place wins a $40 gift certificate and third place wins a $20 gift certificate.

Entries become the property of Flagler College and can be used at any time on merchandise sold by Flagler’s Legacy. A reasonable effort will be made to contact the designer before merchandise is created.

Contest is open to Flagler College students, faculty, staff and alumni only.

I’m going to have to agree that these are all sad choices. Don’t we have a graphic design department here on campus? I saw some of the submissions that those kids did for our new athletic logo. They were really thoughtful and artistic..where are those?

While our sign kids are very enthusiastic, I agree that if they win, then every other group or major that wants a shirt should have one sold at the legacy.

I think the openess of Flagler to students w/ all kinds of disabilities and Flagler’s willingness to engage in courses of study which accomodate and teach for these needs in the larger community IS representative. We are not any single major, but the majors we choose to encourage speak to the character of the college as a whole. I’m not in the ed department, but I’d be happy to see what I consider an INCLUSIVE design representing the college as a whole. A t-shirt is not a mission statement. It is one window into the campus. Liz’s design is a good one.

These are all awful — I embarrassed to go here on so many levels — this new tee-shirt will surely add another level to said embarrassment — where is the art? where is the design?

These are boring and without feeling, they also show poor use of the contrast between positive and negative space; the center one with the lion would be awesome except for the fact that it’s so unbalanced —

I am rife with disappointment– my high school had better tee-shirts…

I don’t really know if sign language would be representive of FC, as a whole. I would feel that it would be a poor choice. Do you sell t-shirts that represent any other major or club? i.e. young life, political guild, psychology, latin american studies, SGA…
