Singleton’s Unite!
Today is Valentine’s Day.
It has got to be the most ridiculous day of the year fabricated by greeting card companies to make us singletons really feel like crap. Only because that’s what we are–single.
The last time I got a Valentine dinner and a card from a guy that actually meant something to me was when I was 17. That was six years ago. He took me to dinner and he was so nervous that his nose started to bleed all over the dinner table. It didn’t help that we were eating steak that was still mooing and on top of that, bleeding as well. Since then, all I’ve gotten is The Finger and a bad Cuban. Not really that much fun.
So what do us singletons do?
We go out and have a good time. For example, yesterday I DJ’d for a party and danced all night and we all played Guessing Games. Tonight, I will be going out to eat with the Girlies and we are going to, most likely, drown our single sorrows in drink!
Other options of saving face at this time of the year include: sending flowers to yourself at work, buying expensive jewelry and placing it on your desk when no one is looking, all the while pretending it’s from a secret admirer.
I really can’t think of any more at the moment, but I’d think that those options are fun.
